My time with Brazil is over âFootballer, Neymar confirms retirement after 16 years

Brazil forward, Neymar Jr., has announced his retirement from international football after a 16-year stint with the Selecao.
Neymar took the decision after featuring for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 34-year-old made the announcement while speaking to reporters after Santos defeated Universidad Central 4-2 in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana knockout round playoffs.
“My time with the national team is over,” Neymar said.
“I made history, I was very happy, I gave my blood, my life. I always fought for the yellow jersey, but now I don’t want to anymore,” Neymar told reporters.
Neymar’s final appearance for Brazil came in the World Cup last-16 clash against Norway.
He scored a penalty in stoppage time, which only proved to be a consolation, as Brazil was eliminated from the tournament.
